You knew it was coming. Wit on threadwatch called it and I started the legwork on it last week. I am designing an official SEO Black Hat “hat”.
Basically, to get professional quality caps that people might actually wear, I need to order 100 or so. When I do, my cost drops to between $4 and $5 per hat for hats of the same quality worn in MLB.
I know that I probably don’t have a large enough sample size of readers yet, but I’m gonna throw it out there anyway. I’m going to make a Black Flex fit Cap like.
With either:
1. The evil Smiley on front:
and the SEO Black Hat logo:
2. Just the SEO Black Hat Logo on back or
3. Just the SEO Black Hat Logo on the Front
4. SEO in Front, Black Hat in back
A friend of mine noted that we might be better off with the SEO in the front and the black hat in the back without the smiley. He said something to the extent of the smiley is a little too “teenaged angst” looking: You could wear the hat with just the SEO and the Black hat almost anywhere. Whereas, with the evil smiley, people who aren’t in the know might look at you a little wierd
The Logo doesn’t quite fit as well in the front because of height to width considerations, but it could be done. However, I have had several people say they want the evil smiley.
So what do you think? I know that I probably don’t have enough readers after 2 weeks to get any kind of results from the poll, but I figured I’d try it anyway.

The smiley might benefit from being slightly redesigned — right now it has a lot of curved lines to it (like the eyes and the smile), and exchanging those for some sharper lines might create a look that is more authentically sinister (so as to overcome the teenage angst stigma).
Although I do like the attitude it conveys nonetheless.
Great way to figure out how many of the caps you will be able to sell
