Complementing Adsense Income with PPS Affiliates

While Adsense is one of the best thing to ever happen to search engine spammers, it shouldn’t be your only sponsor.

PPC (pay per click) ad programs like Adsense inevitably have stringent guidelines about how you can “encourage” people to click on the ads.

PPS (Pay per sale) affiliates generally do not have these restrictions. They don’t care too much about how you send traffic because they only pay you when someone buys. This gives you many more options and more ways to get creative about directing traffic.

We find that PPC and PPS programs complement each other and help us maximize revenue per visitor.

When choosing a PPS Affiliate for your Black Hat SEO projects you want something with broad appeal. Unfortunately, identifying affiliate programs worth promoting is an arduous task. You have to worry about everything from conversions to payouts, shaving to scrubbing. Will I get my check? Will this affiliate program fold? . . . etc.

One site that always seems to convert for us, almost regardless of topic, is the dating site Adult Friend Finder.

They have become a staple of ours because you can send almost any kind traffic to their sites and some percentage will convert.

A few notes about the site: The back end navigation of Adult Friend Finder feels like it was set up by a high functioning autistic. So when you can’t find what you looking for, just e-mail customer support.

My other gripe is that some of the Geo-targeted ads pull pics of really ugly people. But I guess they’re just using real personal ads and some people are just not that attractive. We have better results when we choose the pics.

Unlike PPC campaigns where you immediately know how much income is generated per click, it often takes 30 days or more for a free join to convert to a sale. So some patience is required in the evaluation process.

But on the Plus side:
1. It converts like crazy

2. AFF is Available in many languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, German, Portuguese and more.

3. They have about 20 different targeted membership programs including:

Adult Friend Finder – Sex and Swingers dating site (best converting)
Passion – Same database but marketing that isn’t outright “adult”
    Asia Friendfinder – Chinese personals
    Korean Friendfinder – Korean personals
    German Friendfinder – German personals
French Friendfinder – French personals and more

4. They have Crossover appeal – both adult and mainstream

5. They pay, they’re established and respected. (they rank # 25 overall in alexa)

Adult Friend Finder pays up to $1.00 for each unique visitor, or 35% to 75% of membership fees or offer $30.00 per order – your choice.

We’ve had successes with many other affiliate programs – both in mainstream and in the adult space. But in answer to those e-mails I’ve been receiving about affiliate recommendations, I feel comfortable starting with Adult Friend Finder.

Have to agree with you . . . been using adult friend finder for the past 2 years and they’re one of the best.

Another affiliate that I have tons of success with is ebay.

go on about ebay … i’m getting ready to invest some dollars into querying their API to create aws like auction stores, loaded with data that appears on my server … versus that javascript include they have now.

I also went the affiliate route…who to trust? How do I know I’m not getting ripped off? Not to mention the affiliates that use browser hijacker objects (BHO’s), set 3-day cookies, and in general steal or divert your commissions.

I found a WH forum that screens the affiliates, and the ones that make the cut are trustworthy. If they screw up…out they go.

It’s ABestWeb. They are frantically against BH tactics…but what they don’t know won’t hurt…right?

You can push jewelry, boats, clothes, furniture, kids stuff, ect.ect. It’s well worth a look.
Joining is free, typical commish is 10% on up.

Mix BH with reliable tested WH companies, and you can laugh all the way to the bank. Typically, I generate pages with the main affiliate banner above the fold on the index pages, and mix in adsense on the secondary pages.

Works well for me, and I don’t have to worry about merchant ripoff tactics.

Also, there’s pre-made templates, data feeds, and product showcase generators. A sweet deal.

I am a white hat seo that made the switch to aff marketing a few years back. I agree that ABestWeb is a good guide when looking for aff offers. You may want to take a look at LeadFlash.com. It’s my network and we specialize in CPA lead offers, like debt consolidation and payday loans, which pay out huge and convert really well. We have offers with earnings per click well over $2. Not bad at all.

I’m not interested in black, white, blue, gray, pink, or yellow hats. The truth in my mind is simply volume. If you build many many sites that have Google’s contextual ads placed in the right place, surrounded by the right keywords, you are going to make some great money.

We have finally got our Adsense sites down to a system and are earning far more than we ever imagined we could. (we being my wife and I)

I just wish people would work really hard and they could also see the fruits of massive labor.

which of the adult friend finder commission options have you found to work best? i’m testing the ppc at the moment, but it looks like it’ll take better conversion to get to any decent per click level.
