What a joke. It is simple to become an editor. Find a category without one, apply, and bam you are in. You just need to keep active or you will get dropped.

Furthermore, being an editor does very little to get you influence over the other editors and get clients listed, keywords changed, etc. If you happen to oversee a good directory, wonderful. I oversee a small one and believe me it is because I like the topic.

Black Hat? Hardly.

Son of a... now MSN is using dmoz results too?!! I had a ton of #1 spots for many of my sites in MSN, but then all of a sudden a few weeks back most of them dropped clean off! I didn't know why this happened, so I started checking out every possible reason this could happen. Then I was looking on www.uptimebot.com and noticed that all of the top results in MSN were now listed in dmoz. What a load!

I can't say for sure that dmoz editors are corrupt, but why would they not be? Of course they're gonna use their accounts to help themselves! Why do you think most people apply to be volunteers? I just can't believe that MSN jumped on this bandwagon. The site that has always gotten praises for bringing back the most relevent search results has just now took a major...!

It's up to us webmasters to get back the search engine we all know and love (or loved, anyway). If we don't do something about it, dmoz will be the most powerful force on the Internet, and those of us that work, and have worked our asses off to get listed the "right way" might as well just give up! What sense is there in putting in so much effort when some lucky "volunteer" is the deciding factor on how we place?

If you want to do your part to take back our Internet, leave your comments in the petition against dmoz by clicking on my name above. We gotta do something!

How about holding the auction on here? I'm sure there are others (including myself ;)) who'd like a safe/anonymous place to sell editorships/links and the like.
