Google’s Blogger Product Manager in Spam Barriers (Redux) notes:
Today we are posting a revised version of the word verification system we released yesterday. With this version we have resolved a number of the problems from the initial launch – the most important of which was the inability of some users to solve the CAPTCHAs presented.
Looks like a smart move: let’s see how it works in practice.

So that’s what those little, distorted, almost unreadable, letters are called. Since I post to all my blogs manually, I saw those little letters a few days ago, and regardless of how many times I entered those little letters in the box, my post still wouldn’t publish. I thought it was the death of blogger.
I still think it’s just a waste of time on their part, and just a nuisance. I mean people will just start using another service like wordpress, if they have to keep typing little letters in all the time in order to post, I’m refering of course to people who actually publish real blogs, not splogs.
And for people who publish splogs, there is probably a way to bypass this crap, so the rss to blog software or whatever can still post automatically. Just a total waste of time on bloggers part.
