[...] Face it. Filipinos may be good conversationalists but when it comes to spelling, we are mentally challenged. With our native tongue evolving from tagalog to taglish, and now, with the emergence of sms language (we won’t be called the “number one texting country” for nothing, would we?), our vocabulary has turned into a mesh of mispelled words. I know, I know. Filipinos are not really ashamed of this little known detail, in fact, we’re most likely to dismiss it with a laugh. But hey, now we can laugh about it and turn it to our advantage at the same time. Aaron Wall calls spelling errors an advanced SEO technique. Apparently, he’s not ashamed to admit of his spelling booboos too, as some of his misspelled words surprisingly earned him thousands of dollars. And he’s not the only SEO guru who spoke of the wonders of bad spelling in acquiring search engine traffic. Blackhatseo had his share of the cake too. He says typo spam is considered high class spam even by search engines. Not everyone is a good speller, as Eric Giguere put it. Many searches are done using mispelled keywords, because of varied reasons. It could be that the user typed too quickly and dropped a letter or two. Or he just couldn’t spell, period. Now since we’re all imperfect creatures capable of doing mistakes (unconsciously or in complete ignorance), think how large your market can be. Suffice it to say, bad spellings may cost you red marks on your school papers, but in the world wide web, it may cost you competitive traffic, and some extra dough on the side. So.. are you fur in inglesh sfeling? Be proud, and take it to your advantage. :) [...]
