75% of Pings are Splings, Splogs or Splongs

Interesting article on splogs:

Clearly almost 3 out of 4 pings are spings! Going back further to the source of these spings, we observed that more than 50% of claimed blogs pinging weblogs.com are splogs.

The problem is they don’t exactly define what they call a splog. Is it any blog that talks about poker or viagra? is it a newsmaster site? How about blogs that are used as TGPs in adult?

If a splog ping is defined as any ping representing neither unique nor interesting content, then I would venture to say that 99% of pings are “splings” or “slogs” or whatever new word Mark Cuban invents for it this week. Sadly, even today’s seoblackhat ping would fall under that umbrella.

Both comments and pings are currently closed.
