The good news is that Jimmy will pull through. Because seoblackhat.com ranks number 1 in both Yahoo and MSN (Screen Shots) for eco friendly flip flops, Timmy will survive.
This little experiment exposed how Google is indeed the weakest of the search engines. Instead of ranking seoblackhat for eco friendly flip flops, Google search once again showed they don’t know their asses from their elbows by not ranking it in even the top 100 results!
What did make it into the SERPS in Google? The scraper site www.301powered.com at number 19. They scraped my original eco friendly flip flops post. They also referral spam (I have 655 referrals in my referral log from them – the most of any site this month).
MSN and Yahoo can both identify the most relevant web page on this topic. Google sucks so much that the most relevant result does not even make it into the top 100 results. It does show a scraped result of the most relevant result (at 19), but not the original source.
Clearly in this case, Google is the worst search engine of the three. Unfortunately for Google, search is all they really have. If you own stock in Google, it’s time to sell. Their market cap of $127.36 Billion dollars is based on their alleged superiority in search: a superiority that does not exist.

Hmm. Weren’t you trying to spam to the top for this query with your South Park call to action? I’d say it’s not so bad that it didn’t work.
Well, I didn’t exactly try to spam my way to the top. I barely even bend the rules on this domain – I don’t want to make it morally easy to fulfill your SEO dreams.
It was interesting to see wolf-howl rank number 1 and we can certainly take notes from this experiment as to what G, Y and MS are looking for in their algorithm.
To be sure, my gripe is more about G showing the 301powered result to the exclusion of seoblackhat – you know what it’s like to be googlewashed, matt.
Congrats on winning best SEO blog. I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday week.

It’s because the Latest Cache for this site in google is “Redirect your way out of the sandbox” on December 13th, 2005.
Everything since hasn’t been spidered yet. Give it some time and you might rank in the top 100.
Nice try Matt, but the fact is that Google HAS lost relevance in it’s results over the past year. I’m not willing to say it’s the worst yet, but I can say without reservation that (for truely relevant informational type results) I now have to use alternative SEs to get the information I am looking for.
It’s not referral spam, only targeted visitors ..
“I have 655 referrals in my referral log from them – the most of any site this month”
Sorry if you can’t make targeted traffic
LOL. I knew this was going to happen. I made a bet on this, let’s see how it pans out. (Think Options and selling short)
[...] Specialty search engines will be on the rise, and there is good reasons for this. Currently the serps on Google, and Yahoo! have become a royal mess! Finding relevant content is very difficult, and you can not blame spammers for this! Google in particular as tightened it’s algo so much to fight spam that it has become the worse search engine for relevancy as proven by various experiments by individual seo webmasters who monitor the top 3 search engines for relevance. [...]
[...] Today I’m going to talk again about why, even though Google is a great company, their stock is overpriced and should be sold if your want to protect your portfolio’s value. Sure I said it before (when their stock was $80 higher per share), but this time I’m going to lay it out in even more detail. Hopefully this won’t be the straw that breaks the Googlebots back and gets my site banned. [...]
