India’s Secret Army of Ad Clickers

comments below

While this is an old thread, India’s Secret Army of Ad Clickers - Rupees for Clicks, it’s still interesting.

A growing number of housewives, college graduates, and even working professionals across metropolitan cities are rushing to click paid Internet ads to make $100 to $200 (up to Rs 9,000) per month.

My gut is that the rest of the web may have to move in the direction that adult affiliate programs pioneers a decade ago - PPA (pay per acquisition). On the other hand, click fraud from PPC may just become a poverty tax that’s part of the cost of doing business on the web.

For me, click fraud is over the line and not an acceptable business practice. IMO, black hat SEO has nothing to do with click fraud. It’s one thing to try to beat a computer’s algorithm to make money, it’s quite another to steal from business owners.

I’m getting error on that link, (tried it without referer as well).

“The page that you requested was not found
( or maybe we decided to not let you have it… :)

It’s a pity there is so much fraud with adult sponsors ripping affiliates off :(

I’d prefer the poor in the world to gain through fraud than rich pricks getting even richer by ripping off poor people.

That’s also probably one reason people get the dreaded “Your adsense account has been cancelled” email. >:-(

Vic

Amazon joined the bang with the mechanical turk.

There are websites starting to pop up that are “Adsense Exchanges”, where you view websites and click the adsense, and in return they send people to your site to click the adsense. Fortunatly this method will be very easy for ad empires to detect, but still there are people out there always looking for a way to rip other people off..

Better idea — smart pricing. For all I know Google may already be doing this. IPs that are clicking lots but never convert get discounted to zero.

Google doesn’t talk alot about click fraud for good reason.

well, it’s not like making money online would end if PPC ended, it may be a little harder sure, but there will be something else to take its place.

That’s interesting what you say about how google doesn’t talk alot about click fraud… because they could very well be participants eh?
