One of the product we were considering promoting here at SEO Black Hat was PRstorm - referral spamming software.

After purchasing the software through the affiliate link I noticed we were not credited for a sale - a very ominious start. We further evaluated the software and found it not worthwhile and therefore did not promote it.

Last week, I recieved this e-mail from PayDotCom:

RE: Stormpay 2/5 Update
Date: February 5th, 2006

Dear Quadszilla,

It appears (to us at PayDotCom) that StormPay has
removed it prior updated and not added it to it’s
TOS.

They do have a new update which we posted at the bottom of this email.

To date, we have left several messages with them to call us back. We have not received any return calls. We assume StormPay is flooded with calls regarding their last update and has not had the chance to reply to the amount of calls and help tickets coming in. We will keep you posted.

It appears that the federal Government stepped in to eliminate Get Rich Quick, Ponzi, and Pyramid schemes which were being disguised as surf traffic exchanges, many of these were using Stormpay. StormPay appears to be fully complying with the authorities and are doing a great job to get rid of these sites that only hurt people in the end.

We believe that their past post was in regards to these types of programs and not legitimate affiliate programs for ebooks, software and services.

From what we see, with the original post removed from their site and no addition to their TOS, it seems the rules apply only to Get Rich Quick, Ponzi, and Pyramid schemes and not the legitimate items in PayDotCom.com that abide by our
TOS.

Based on the recent information, we feel our system continues work well for you with StormPay and PayPal on the same product.

We are still trying to get word from Stormpay.

We encourage you to contact them at www.StormPay.com to get first hand answers to your questions and concerns/

Thanks,

Rumors Put to Rest.
05-Feb-2006 08:38
Recently StormPay.com closed the accounts of what appear to be some major ponzi schemes. These account closures came as the early results of investigations into those businesses by outside investigational organizations as well as our own internal investigations.

As a result, possible victims of these businesses are attempting to retaliate against StormPay.com by spreading false rumors and performing DDOS attacks against StormPay’s servers. The rumors include such things as “StormPay.com has gone out of business”, “Their building has been burned down”, and other falsehoods. The DDOS attacks are “Denial of Service” attacks where massive amounts of traffic is sent to the website whereby disallowing legitimate web traffic to reach the website. These attacks only prevent legitimate traffic from reaching the website and pose absolutely no threat to the security of your StormPay account.

StormPay will CONTINUE to cooperate with authoritative investigations into these businesses which very heavily appear to be nothing more than illegal ponzi or pyramid schemes. Our hopes are to get these investigations completed as early as possible so that victims can quickly be refunded monies that have been captured in those account closures. However, we must warn that those who are impeding the investigation are only slowing the process for everyone involved.

StormPay Inc.

Needless to say we were not surprised.

Quadszilla I been promoting PRStorm for a while now, and do get paid regularly, though I have noticed sales have dropped from what they use to be. I still promote it if for no other reason then to piss of anti-spam fanatics :)
