SEO by the Sea did a pretty good write up on MSN detecting search engine spam with their algorithms.
I know what you’re thinking, “If they can detect spam, then why the hell do they have so much of it?” Yea, I was wondering that too.
Well, it turns out if you have clearly computer generated content with exactly the same number of links on each page, all pages the same size and over a million pages from 116,654 hosts that all share the same IP, they can detect you.
Wow! That’s some pretty sophisticated spam detection technology they’ve got there. I’m sure heads will roll at Google as news of this AMAZING patent cascades through Google’s upper management.
In addition, this revolutionary new search technology can detect:
1. Corn in Nebraska
2. If a politician is lying
3. The Pope’s Religion and
4. Stink on Shit
Oh and by the way: how is seoblackhat.com not in SEO by the Sea’s blogroll? He’s got like every site that’s ever mentioned SEO in there - even a site that is nothing but a scraper. . . that scrapes MY content! What’s up with that?

Haha, my blog is there
That’s gold Jerry, gold! LOL
Good post.
Must have worked because he is linking to you now
Some of the things that may cause SEs think you’re a spammer:
- all pages of equal size
- high keyword density
- too many internal links
- similar patterns in templates
…
I was wondering why he was giving so many free link away.. then I found myself bookmarking his page to check the links later.
Your site has been on my RSS feed list for a while, so when I saw your post, I decided that it made sense to add you to my blog roll. Same with irishwonder.
There’s some more research and information from MSN on what they are planning to do in the future, and what they might be doing now, but it’s harder to get at the back story on some of it like it was on this patent application involving automatically generated pages.
Haha now you are in bythesea’s blogroll ^^

But come to think of it, I’m not on Bill’s blogroll either - and that’s while even John Scott thinks I’m worthy
