The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a class-action lawsuit against AT&T on January 31, 2006, accusing the telecom giant of violating the law and the privacy of its customers by collaborating with the National Security Agency (NSA) in its massive and illegal program to wiretap and data-mine Americans’ communications.
Today, the EFF won a huge victory when the Judge Denyed the motion to dismiss the case. This is a huge step toward stopping illegal surveillance and holding AT&T accountable for these privacy violations.
Keep fighting the Good Fight EFF!
That’s why I donate to them.

John Perry Barlow is one of the founders of the EFF (formerly one of the chief songwriters for the Grateful Dead from 1971-1995), and I’m happy to say that he is a dear friend of mine. In fact I just had the pleasure of spending an evening with him at a friend’s incredible home in Malibu, CA last Saturday night. When I walked away as the sun was rising on Sunday morning, Barlow was in the pool wth a gorgeous friend, laughing and living a wonderful life, as he more than deserves.
Reason I’m telling you this: John Perry Barlow is ALL about our freedoms, ALL about protecting them, and willing to fight the necessary fights against them. The man is golden. The EFF is worthy of all financial contributions, as the money is put very much to good, and necessary use. I donate as much and as often as I can, and I encourage everyone who reads this blog to consider doing the same. Without Barlow and his people at the EFF, we might soon see the carcass of our internet being picked clean by political carrion fowl.
P.S. I wanted to link a photo of J. P. Barlow and I from last Saturday night’s festivities, but wasn’t sure if adding a link here was a cool thing or not…
