Useful Tips and A Week in the Life of a Black Hat

This past week has been pretty Amazing. Meeting Marcus of Mediadonis and hanging out in Munich was a blast; he knows his shit and he’s “good people”. When we weren’t baffling Adreas, the Poker Stars Affiliate Manager, with our Internet war stories, we were drinking champagne at the best clubs in Munich or watching Marcus’s horse place in the most exciting race I’ve ever seen. Marcus – you’ve Got to get that race video up! We were even hanging with Wiesn Playmate Anna Scharl (Miss October for German Playboy) and her sister most of the time we were out; they’re both sweethearts.

Good times, Good times.

Then it was over to Prague for even more debauchery that included strip clubs Adult Market Research, a dominatrix duet (should I post the video?), a club crawl, historic sight seeing and even some skydiving.

Now I’m in Budapest; today is a work day that includes work on several exciting projects that are leveraging Google’s love for trusted sites. I learned that Google has 3000 quality / spam checkers . . . in Germany alone! I had heard 5000 last year, but that was worldwide. I guess they’ve really ramped up their efforts and why not? Google is printing money right now and one of the most important things for them is user experience in their SERPs.

Clearly the shift for webmasters is and must continue to be to make any black hat efforts look more white hat. It’s only spam if it looks and smells like spam; it’s only black hat if you call it black hat. The old school, ugly / high click through MFA sites are on the way out. The new school is the “content remix” on trusted domains. Make the user experience a good one and you and Google can continue to roll wheelbarrels of money to the bank together.

Plus you can get away with a lot more shit for a lot longer if the site doesn’t LOOK like spam. Heavy black hat stuff that looks like spam still works great, but it’s only lasting a few days when it’s really successful.

One last piece of advice: Clean up your damn footprints! I’m looking at what many of you out there are doing and you’re just sloppy as fuck . . .

Tonight I’m going to the Opera and tomorrow I’m doing some 3-hour caving expedition. Ahh, the life of a spammer. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.

yes, was funny to see your face in the corner of the webcam when everybody was drunk.

Great you enjoyed your stay in munich! Was really cool to have you here! And I´m working on getting the video of the race - I shoot you an email when it´s up (in case you didn´t rss my blog :-) )
Save travels!

I hope your “Adult Market Research” was as enlightening as you’d hoped.

Haha.

[…] As some of you know, me and some friends own a race horse called Wonderful Day, a beautiful 5 year old mare. You might remember her finishing 4th in the prestigious spring meeting in Iffezheim. The Weekend Quadzilla visited here in munich she actually had her last race of the season right here in munich. As Quadzilla already blogged, it was the most exciting race I´ve ever seen! We actually thought the race was over, when the horces approached the last bend, and Wonderful Day was in 7th position, but then… in the most amazing finish Wonderful Day took 2nd place, leaving us with over 12.000 Euros in prize money … but see for yourself: […]
