Dui. China is a stunning place. The growth and opportunity - for some areas - is mind-boggling as is the interest in current standards. I went a few years back and ended up speaking to a unexpectedly large tech audience at one event, and it's bustling even more now.

As for the Great Firewall, I'm sure at this point you've noted there are various ways people routinely circumvent it.

Gen bei + be sure to post a city-by-city recap when you get back (very big, diverse country).

That's exactly what I was thinking (re: actively checking new sites) ... I've been in china for 3 weeks now and have noticed a plethora of sites that are blocked.. feeds.engadget.com sadly being one of them! engaget.com works fine though..?

One phenomenon I've noticed (with the dirtier sites out there..) is that while they may be blocked on first trial.. re-attempting for 5, 10.. or sometimes 30 minutes somehow unblocks them? Maybe they've confirmed by then that you're not a local citizen and to give you less trouble?? It's still all very foreign to me :P

Enjoy the far east! I'm off to hungary tomorrow..
