This is one of the best things I’ve read all year.
If you like this you’ll also like Freakonomics. It’s no where near as good as this and spends a lot of its time showing how you can prove anything with statistics but there’s still some great stuff in there.
Honestly, I really disliked Freakonomics. I thought it was poorly written and had a weak premise. A book that I do love that is like this post outline, though, is “Influence: Science and Practice”.
I have it as an ebook but its pretty standard (freakonomics)
I would say another good similar read I found worthwhile was “Art of contrary thinking” – quite based on the stock exchange but good ballpark reading.
It’s true, this article is amazing. Thanks so much for the pointer. I was talking to someone today about the hidden cost of free – and how there’s only one thing that can beat free, and that’s convenient. Take iTunes – people will pay a dollar for a track rather than download it for free if it is easier and less risky.
