It later turns out that the cop had his drink spiked the night before and was having a bad acid trip, thus, he heard him saying something absurd like that and also = the cop getting off the hook. Hey... he couldn't help it, he didn't realise he was on a bad trip... why would he, he wasn't even expecting to be drugged. Other than that, I can't see how he could get off. >.
